Elevating Market Insights: How SGA Designed Research-Driven Industry e-books for a Leading US-based Healthcare Consultancy Provider

thought leadership case study

BUSINESS SITUATION

One of the leading US-based healthcare & life sciences strategy consulting providers,  with a strong presence across healthcare service providers, payers, and medical devices,  needed to build short-form research-enabled intelligence to be distributed to their partners, and existing & prospective customers. This paved the way for them to identify six emerging themes or business priorities within the healthcare and life sciences space and commission this work to SG Analytics.

We conducted a thorough primary, and secondary research backed investigation across both enterprises, and technology vendors relevant to the innovative themes such as Generative AI, Prior Authorization, and Out-of-Home Services.

SGA STRATEGIC APPROACH

Each four-week e-book creation project encompassed a thorough secondary investigation of market potential, growth trajectories, key vendors, use cases, trends, and future outlook of the innovative theme. The dual primary research investigation methodology assisted us to validate both buy and sell side hypothesis resulting in enriching intelligence for our client. A good example is “Within the first e-book on Generative AI in healthcare & life sciences benchmarking spend across this industry with 13 more verticals.” Healthcare and life sciences stood as the second largest spender across Generative AI worldwide. Furthermore, the vendor briefing assisted us to build very niche insights on the leaders, laggards, followers, and niche positioning of almost 20–-25 technology stacks which was highly appreciated by the client.

ENGAGEMENT

The engagement process included:

  • Faster turnaround without offsetting quality of deliverable (four weeks for each e-book including editorial, and design).
  • Conducting 2–3 interviews with technology vendors with closed- ended questions mainly investigating their strategic, and technology roadmaps today, and in the next 18-24 months.
  • Minimum primary investigation of 8–10 qualitative open-ended questions with technology decision makers/influences within tier-I, and tier-II enterprises (healthcare providers and payers)
  • Hyper- tailored attributes (table of contents) for each of the e-book
  • Integrated service from both secondary and primary research to editorial and design (as per client recommended brand guidelines)

BENEFITS & OUTCOME

  • Monthly series of e-books on flagship themes within the healthcare space with strong validation from both buy and sell side.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • It’s crucial to build a multi-layered primary investigation i.e. in this case quantitative priority survey with enterprises, and a qualitative technology roadmap with vendors to build a unique, and differentiated thought leadership asset.
